Nonprofits like United Way and various government agencies provide excellent programs to support people in need. The problem: The people who need these programs often don’t know they exist.

This is why United Way brought 2-1-1 to Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties.  Since 2011, a tri-county call center has been in place to direct people in need to the non-profit services that then need.  Anyone looking for help should call 2-1-1 to be directed to available services.

Call center specialists are trained to answer a wide variety of questions about animal neglect, furniture donation, child care, domestic abuse, rental assistance or volunteering.  Callers are given organizational information and any restrictions or instructions regarding available services.

The call center will effectively minimize administration costs at various organizations that are currently fielding requests for such information.  2-1-1 will also provide United ay with statistical information regarding the needs of individuals in Linn County.
